In Asia, however, things are not going smoothly for Asian gays, especially if you are an Asian gay teenager. It all probably started there, with the United States leading the way. This probably started with the gay rights movement in the 1980s in Western countries. They are now more aware of the need to accept gays and lesbians. The past couple of decades have presented a shift in outlook among the general public. Because of the open culture where people are more accepting of who you are and what you want to be, more and more gays, lesbians, and transgenders are coming out at a young (18/25) age.
